Rock of Cashel (link)
One of Ireland's most iconic and spectacular attractions. Brian Boru was crowned High King here in 978 and it’s on this spot that St Patrick converted King Aengus to Christianity. Today, five buildings remain, including a 12th century chapel, 13th century cathedral, and the Hall of the Vicar's Choral. All visitors must have a ticket which can be booked online here.
Mitchelstown Cave (link)
One of the largest cave systems in Ireland, discovered in 1833, by local man who accidentally dropped his crowbar into a crevice. The caves regularly host underground concerts, film premieres and a pop up Michelin Star restaurant. Guided tours available (Call 052 746 7246).
Glen of Aherlow (link)
Popular amongst hikers, this is lush valley where the River Aherlow runs between the Galtee Mountains and Slievenamuck. There are numerous loop walks ranging from 30 mins to 4 hours through miles of forest with spectacular views over the valley and the surrounding hills. AllTrails has lots of options (link).
